Editor's note: These are two of several members who have spent 10 years with 4-H. We'll introduce you to more throughout the Allen County Fair, today-Sunday. 4-H is open to students through Grade 12 of the exhibition year.
Sarah Potter, 18, of New Haven
♦School: Graduated from Woodlan High School this year and will attend Concordia University in Chicago to study elementary education this fall.
♦4-H family history: Mother and grandmother both involved with sewing, baking and gardening. Sister Amy, 15, is also involved with sewing and baking.
♦Past events and projects: Sewing, baking, food presentation, gardening, woodworking, Fashion Review
♦This year: Modeling a peacoat she made for the Senior Fashion Review
♦Awards, recognition: Indiana State Fair entries for sewing and baking
♦Favorite 4-H memory: Being in the Fashion Review.
♦Final thoughts: “I've enjoyed staying busy during the summer and learning life skills.”
Elizabeth Rose, 17, of Fort Wayne
♦School: Graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School this year and will attend Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame to study design this fall.
♦4-H family history: Older siblings Emily, Jonathan and Laura all inspired her to participate.
♦Past events and projects: Food, basic craft
♦This year: Basic craft
♦Awards, recognition: state fair placement for cherry pie; runner-up at state fair for frozen pizza; honor certificate for craft.
♦Favorite 4-H memory: Hanging out with friends from her club at the fair.
♦Final thoughts: “I've learned not to procrastinate on my 4-H projects.”
