4-H profiles

Editor's note: These are two of several members who have spent 10 years with 4-H. We'll introduce you to more throughout the Allen County Fair, which continues through Sunday. 4-H is open to students through Grade 12 of the exhibition year.

Elaine Shank

♦Age: 18

♦Hometown: Fort Wayne

♦School: Graduated from Carroll High School last spring and will attend IPFW to study math this fall.

♦4-H family history: She decided to join 4-H after watching her older brother and cousin participate. “It looked like a fun family thing.”

♦Past events and projects: Swine (all 10 years), fine art and photography off and on through the years

♦Awards, recognition: Several championship ratings throughout the years, reserve champion in barrow (2001), overall grand champion in barrow (1999).

♦Favorite 4-H memory: Showing her pigs. She and her sisters Amber, 16, and Lauren, 14, also present swine.
