The pedestrian struck by a car near Carroll High School on Tuesday, originally reported to be a female, is actually a 16-year-old boy.
The Carroll student, who was not identified, was struck by a another student's car as he tried to cross Carroll Road early Tuesday, according to Allen County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Stone. The boy suffered an arm injury when he was hit on the car's right front end and then the windshield. The driver of the car will not be charged, according to Stone. The driver was driving slowly, and the boy was dressed in dark clothing, Stone said.
An armed robbery took place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Rent-A-Center at 1536 St. Mary's Ave., according to police radio transmissions and incident reports. Two men armed with pistols and wearing gloves and ski masks, along with another man serving as a spotter, bound employees with plastic ties and robbed the store of two gaming systems and cash before fleeing.
