A local pastor faces three felony charges for allegedly dealing crack cocaine to members of his congregation.

Fort Wayne Police began investigating 59-year-old Rev. Curtis White III of the Divine Faith Baptist Church about a month ago after receiving complaints from his congregation, according to police spokesman Michael Joyner.

The number for the church listed at 1433 McCulloch St. has been disconnected, and a call made to White's home was not returned. It is not clear whether the church is still operational, because a lock was on the door Monday night and the pews sat behind the church under a tarp.

On June 4, police set up a sting to purchase $150 worth of crack cocaine from Beatrice Knox, 44, according to a probable-cause affidavit. Knox said in order to get the cocaine she had to get it from White, who was selling it out of his hotel room, the affidavit said.

Police continued the investigation, and on Friday, they served a search warrant on White's hotel room and found 6.6 grams of crack cocaine in the room and 6.5 grams in a body cavity, according to the affidavit.

White was arrested and charged with three counts of dealing cocaine. His bond was set at $150,000. Knox was also charged and faces two counts of dealing cocaine and a count of possession of cocaine. Her bond was set at $102,500.

Joyner called this case unusual, even though police make drug busts on a daily basis. Police have concluded the investigation and say it does not go further than White and Knox, Joyner said.
