Four local organizations will receive a quarterly contribution of $250,000 to supplement their endowment funds from the Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation. The Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Allen County Public Library Foundation, the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo and Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne will be the recipients of the contribution from the foundation.

“We feel fabulous about it,” Allen County Public Library Director Jeffrey Krull said. “We knew Mrs. Auer had interest in the library and we were thrilled to hear that she selected the library as one of the recipients. We're delighted to have that type of support.”

The Auer Foundation is a private, charitable foundation that elected to make quarterly donations this year because of the current economic environment.

Other organizations may be given funding from the Auer Foundation, which is supposed to be in existence for 15 years.

The foundation plans to continue to make an impact the Fort Wayne community through endowments and scholarships and aid general charitable purposes, like scholarships and constructions projects that could benefit Fort Wayne.
