Baseball replay slows game pace, says Selig
Also, L.A. Galaxy “very likely” loaning out Beckham to AC Milan.
of The News-Sentinel

Despite a missed umpire's call in the Twins-Yankees playoff game, baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said he has no desire to increase the use of instant replay.

“Baseball is not the kind of game that can have interminable delays,” Selig said.

I agree. It would be criminal to interrupt the mind-numbing speed with which hitters adjust their cups between every pitch.

Loan it like Beckham

The CEO of AC Milan's soccer team says it's “very likely” David Beckham will again be loaned to AC Milan from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

In a related move, Victoria Beckham will be loaned to the Pussycat Dolls.

My dad can beat up your driver

NASCAR driver Joey Logano's father had his credentials pulled for confronting Greg Biffle after the Nationwide Series race Saturday. Reporters said the elder Logano made at least one “hand gesture” in Biffle's direction. What? That wasn't the “A-OK” sign?

It's a sprint, not a marathon

Kenyan runner Sammy Wanjiru won the Chicago Marathon in the fastest time ever on American soil, finishing in just over 2 hours, 5 minutes. However, the “Sammy record” for getting out of Chicago fastest still belongs to Sosa.

Bad breaks for Boston

It was a rough day in Boston on Sunday. The Red Sox blew a two-run lead in the ninth and were eliminated from the playoffs, and the Patriots lost in overtime to the Broncos. To make matters worse, Bill Belichick wasn't even the best coach in the stadium wearing a hoodie.

Mucho improved Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals improved to 4-1 with a comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Or, as their wide receiver would say, they're Cuatro-Uno.

Speaking of Chad Ocho Cinco, did you see the hit Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis put on him? Ocho Cinco's helmet went flying and when he got up off the ground, his last name was in English and he was speaking Spanish.

AI on the IR

Memphis Grizzlies guard Allen Iverson could miss three weeks with a partial tear in his left hamstring. This will be Iverson's second recent injury. The first was a second-degree bruised ego when he found out Memphis was the only team that wanted him.

Shaq vs. yoga

In an attempt to improve his flexibility, Shaquille O'Neal has started to take yoga classes. He labeled himself the worst yoga student in the history of yoga. But if all goes well, his new nickname will be the Big Breathing Exercise.

Irish gain momentum over weekend

Notre Dame moved back into the college football rankings this week at No. 25. Apparently, the Irish's victory Saturday over “Open Date” impressed the voters.
