East Wayne Street Head Start Center missed getting into our Holiday Wish List project, which was published Nov. 18. The project invites people in the community to donate needed items listed by local nonprofit, social-service organizations. East Wayne Street Head Start is in need of the following: computer printers for four classrooms; sand box toys (child-size rakes, shovels and buckets, toy trucks, etc.); basketballs, with possibly an air pump to inflate them; and skates for children ages 3-5. Stuff-A-Bus ends todayRadio station WLDE, 101.7-FM, will hold its annual Stuff-A-Bus Radiothon until 7 p.m. today at Georgetown Square. People may drop off nonperishable foods for Associated Churches Food Bank.
Guitar Center driveAll Guitar Center retail locations are holding a food drive through Saturday to benefit area food banks. Donors will receive a 10 percent discount coupon on a future Guitar Center purchase.
Cleaner donatedReal Religion will ship 1,800 barrels of highly concentrated medical cleaner through pre-approved medical-relief organizations. Through Operation Sav-A-Life, each barrel costs $745, which will provide cleaner for 28,000 surgeries. For more information or to donate online, go to www.RealReligion.org.
ARCHIE awards
ARCH, the Fort Wayne Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Fort Wayne Downtown Improvement District presented ARCHIE awards to Brian Stockman and Jeremy Brames, 904 W. Berry St., for Outstanding Restoration of a Single-Family House; JS&T Corp., 1104 W. Wayne St., for Outstanding Restoration of a Multi-Family House; General Electric Co. for Leonard G. Murphy Award for Outstanding Commercial Restoration; Morrison Kattman Menze for Outstanding New Construction; city of Fort Wayne Community Development Division for Outstanding New Construction; City Utilities for Outstanding New Construction; and George E. Lee Michiana Chapter National Watch and Clock Association for Outstanding Restoration of the People's Trust Bank Clock.
Certificates of Commendation were presented to: 125 W. Creighton St. for Restoration of a Single-Family Home; 542 Beechwood Drive for Restoration and Designation of a Single-Family Home; 1345 Westover Road for Restoration of a Single-Family Home; 1128 W. Wayne St. for Restoration of a Multi-Family Home; 1123 W. Washington Blvd. for Restoration of a Multi-Family Home; 1638 Wells St. for Restoration of a Commercial Building; and 1915 S. Employees of FXI Foamex Innovations held a competition, which included a NASCAR-style race and food drive, to benefit Community Harvest Food Bank. The company's employees collected 7,493 pounds of food and collected $1,500.
Indiana Pork donationIndiana Pork, in partnership with Feeding Indiana's Hungry, donated 5,000 pounds of ground pork to Community Harvest Food Bank.
Rotaract collects toysRotaract is collecting new and lightly used toys and toiletry items for needy children. Items may be dropped off at the Holiday Inn at Coliseum, Fort Wayne Hotel and Conference Center, Hilton Downtown, Indiana Wesleyan University, Guesthouse, Wells Fargo Indiana Center and Copy Solutions. The service organization will then set up a toy store Dec. 5 at Parkview Field for children. Vouchers will be issued through partnering agencies. Monetary donations may be sent to Fort Wayne Rotary Foundation, 8422 Chantclair Place, Fort Wayne, IN 46835, and write on the memo line Rotaract Christmas Crusade. Funds will purchase more toys for the toy store.
Hunters, butchers partner for charity
Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry are partnering with butcher shops to provide packaged meat to Second Harvest Food Bank. Cash donations also will be accepted to offset butchering costs. Contact Rick and Bonita Stevens at 471-5213 or Tim and Laura Heidenreich at 637-8415 for more information.

Large game only may be taken to Feders Meats, Huntertown; Jamison Meats; Five Oaks, Syracuse; Anstead Meat, Fremont, D&D Meats, Corunna; and Lengerich Meats, Zanesville.
Livestock only may be taken to Graber Locker, Craigsville; and Mishler Packing Co., LaGrange.
Books Comics and Things and Blue Star Mothers Service Group are holding a book and game drive to send to troops overseas. Drop off donations at Books Comics and Things, 2212 Maplecrest Road and 5936 W. Jefferson Blvd.
LFW games availableLeadership Fort Wayne still has a few limited-edition, Monopoly-style games available for $10. Games may be purchased at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, 1021 S. Calhoun St., or call Leadership Fort Wayne at 481-6112. Proceeds benefit leadership training programs.
Youth project grantsYouth as Resources, a Youth Leadership Fort Wayne program, offers grants to nonprofit organizations submitting a youth-generated project proposal. Grants range $100-$750. Application deadline is Jan. 31, and youth must give a presentation to the YAR Council at 6 p.m. Feb. 17.
