♦American Culinary Federation, St. Augustine, Fla., has chosen Denis Ellis of Fort Wayne, who retired as an educator from the University of Notre Dame, to serve as one of eight Apprenticeship Regional Trainers. He was chosen to facilitate initiatives.

♦Baker & Daniels announced that John J. Emanuele has joined the intellectual property group at the firm.

♦Indiana State Bar Association announced that Erik Chickedantz assumed his role as vice president recently. He will become president-elect in October 2010 and president in 2011. Chickedantz is partner at the law firm Hawk Haynie Kammeyer & Chickedantz in Fort Wayne.

♦Ultra Electronics-USSI, Columbia City, has promoted Bill King and Tom Link to vice presidents of their Undersea and Audio Products business areas.

♦Lupke Rice Insurance and Financial Services has hired Donn Koonce as a new business insurance specialist.

♦J&T Systems announced that Aaron Bundy has achieved National Institute for Certification Technologies IV certificate, and is one of only 12 professionals who holds this fire alarm certification for the state of Indiana.

♦Manchester College, North Manchester, announced that the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education has selected Jerry Sweeten, head of the college's environmental studies program, as the 2009 Indiana Professor of the Year.

♦Prudential Foundation and Prudential Financial recently presented Gina Bacon of Fort Wayne, an international freight specialist in the insurance division, with a $1,000 grant to be passed along to her chosen charity, in recognition of her volunteer service to Allen County 4-H Clubs.

♦Barrett & McNagny LLP announced that John P. Martin was selected by his peers for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America 2010” in Tax Law; and N. Thomas Horton II was selected in the practice of Employee Benefits Law.
