It's billed as being fun, friendly and cozy. “It's great bar food with drink specials daily.”
“It” is the Canal Tap Haus bar, now open at Hall's Commissary restaurant, 216 Indiana 930, New Haven. It's open 3:30 p.m.-closing Monday-Saturday, and noon-closing Sunday.
Appropriately, the menu features bar foods and snacks including a combo basket of deep-fried pickles, jalapenos and cheese sticks.
The burger menu features the New Haven one-pounder, garnished with whatever the customer wants. Of course, the menu also includes the Big Buster burger.
Salads also are on the menu, including the new Tap Haus “Garbage” salad with chopped lettuce, salami, ham, turkey, jack cheddar, egg and tomato.
Dinner plates include steak, deep-fried haddock and chicken tenders.
Curly's adds deck
For as much as Fort Wayne touts its location on three rivers, few businesses seem to take advantage of it. Curly's Village Inn is an exception. Perched high above the St. Marys River, Curly's has added an outdoor deck with the capacity to hold 40 people. With Foster Park on the other side of the river, it makes for a lovely view. An outdoor, all-weather television will accommodate those who want to catch a game while enjoying the Great Outdoors.

Another Zesto to enjoy
Oops. When I mentioned local Zesto ice cream shops that were open last week, I forgot to mention the one in New Haven, near the Holiday Inn and Richards Restaurant. Mea culpa.
The Embassy Theatre is presenting The Embatini again this year — a fundraiser right on the historic stage 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 14 at the theater, 125 W. Jefferson Blvd. Catablu will cater the dinner, Cletus Goens II will demonstrate the Grande Page Theater Pipe Organ and Embassy history will be told. Tickets are $85 per person. Reservations are required; call the box office at 424-6287.
Specials extended at Red River
Red River Steakhouse in the Fort Wayne Marriott, 305 E. Washington Center Road, is extending its weekend features through the end of April. From 4 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, choose from the following entrees, which all include a side salad, baked potato or soup: 8-ounce prime rib, 6-ounce smoked beef brisket and 6-ounce pulled pork, each for $9.99. All Dunkin' Donuts in the Fort Wayne area have introduced a new menu, featuring six items all priced at 99 cents: Sausage Egg and Cheese Wrap, Bacon Egg and Cheese Wrap, Egg and Cheese Wrap, Coffee Roll, Nine-piece Hash Browns or Five Munchkins
All breakfast wraps and breakfast sandwiches at Dunkin' Donuts can be made with egg whites. All these items are available any time of the day.
