Holiday shoppers may want to check out Artlink's Holiday Art Market now open in the art gallery at 437 E. Berry St. This is your chance to give affordable one-of-a-kind pieces made by local artists — many gifts are under $20. Some examples: Cat Voors' jewelry, knitted shrugs and mittens by Dawn Pursel, Lorri Courtney's spiral-bound journals, homemade aprons by Kari Woitalla, and Marie Gardeski's bags of tiny “hand” soaps for $12.In the $40-$100 range, you can buy Eunice Scully's textile handbags, Bill Shewman's Christmas-themed framed art and Curtis Rose's mini-Mobius sculptures. The gallery is open noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday; noon-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. The sale goes through Jan. 2.The Orchard Gallery of Fine Art's holiday open house is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 4. Shop that day and you'll get a 10 percent discount — the only day of the year the gallery offers a discount. Plus, you can meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments. Also, check out the gallery's December exhibition, “Art for the Holidays: Featuring Handmade Ornaments and Nativities.”

The $10 CD includes 20 songs by performers such as Rick Springfield, Babyface, Barenaked Ladies and more. Most of the songs are new, acoustic versions of popular hits and were recorded at Sweetwater Productions.

It's also available online at www.waji.com.People are wild about Oprah Winfrey's “favorite things.” A Fort Wayne-produced treat has made it onto her list of favorite things in the December issue of O magazine. DeBrand Fine Chocolates' collection “Faces of the World” — available at DeBrand shops or at www.debrand.com — made the list. The five-piece collection of flavored chocolates, which are molded to look like faces, sells for $12.
