New Thai eatery

I reported in October that Spice and Herb Thai Cuisine had opened at 8802 Coldwater Road. Here's some more information about it:

The restaurant was founded by Timothy and Nattana Scherer, who have experience in the food and restaurant industry. Nattana Scherer grew up in Thailand helping her parents with cooking and assisting at her mother's restaurant.

She moved to the United States in 2000, and became a U.S. citizen in 2005. She manages the restaurant and is head chef. Tim Scherer has 26 years of experience working in local restaurants.

The menu features Thai foods including rice and noodle dishes, curried combos with shrimp and chicken, 21 vegetarian entrees made with tofu, and a variety of meat and fish choices. The restaurant offers sit down and carryout options.

Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. The restaurant is closed on Monday. For more information or to place a carryout order, call 489-3205.

DeBrand tours

The week after Christmas, DeBrand Chocolatiers is opening for extended public tours noon-6 p.m. Monday-Dec. 30 at its Auburn Road location, 10105 Auburn Park Drive. No reservations or minimum group numbers are required for these days only. Tours are $5 per person, with a $5 rebate off a purchase of $10 or more.

Winning cookies

Congratulations to University of Saint Francis students Grace Geha and Drew Sery, whose business project, Gracey's Cookies, won the fifth annual Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership Business Plan Competition.

The pair plans to take the business plan to the next step.

“Some ideas I have are starting a Facebook page to get the name out, and working with the contacts I gained at the end of the night of the competition,” Geha said in a news release.

Closed

•All three Bengino's Pizzas apparently have closed; the phones are disconnected to all three locations.

•Los Alambres Grill, 3434 N. Anthony Blvd., has closed.
