Mad Ants pick up former Big East player

Sunday, January 1, 2012 - 12:01 am

Fort Wayne continued to mix new pieces into its NBADL puzzle on Saturday, as the Mad Ants announced the signing of Gilbert Brown.

The 6-foot-6 forward played collegiately at the University of Pittsburgh, where he averaged over 11 points per game in starting all 34 games last season.

Brown participated in the Boston Celtics training camp and played professionally in Germany before being released recently.

To make space on its roster, Fort Wayne released Corey Allmond, who was averaging nearly 16 points per game this season.

Brown is expected to play in Sunday's game against Canton at 5 p.m. at the Coliseum.
