Big day of tests goes well

NFL Combine, Sunday, Feb. 26

What a day! I don't even know where to begin. Looking back at it, I can only think of how great of an opportunity I had today to prove my skills in front of so many influential decision makers in the NFL. Also, performing at Lucas Oil Stadium, the home field of my childhood favorite team, the Indianapolis Colts, on the NFL Network, who could ask for more?

I remember at one point looking over to another QB and saying, “Man, we should just take a deep breath and soak up this moment." Kurt Warner (former All-Pro and Super Bowl winning QB), Marshall Faulk (former All-Pro running back), and Michael Irvin (former All-Pro wide receiver) were standing right next to us reporting on the day's events.

If I were to grade myself on today's performance, I would say I did very well, and have a lot of positives that I proved to the coaches and scouts. The different drills I competed in were the 40-yard dash (4.76 sec.), three-cone drill (6.78 sec.), short shuttle (4.15 sec.), broad jump (9'4”), vertical jump (32.5”), flexibility measurements, and finally QB drills with the addition of throwing. Many throws were made throughout the day and I would say I only missed on two or three of them, something to definitely hang my hat on.

After all the drills were completed, I had to stick around and throw to the running backs as part of my throwing QB responsibilities. After arriving at the field at 7 a.m., I was finally able to leave at 4:30 p.m. Talk about exhausted. Had dinner again with my agent, got in the hot tub for a bit to relax and now it's bedtime.

I will be throwing to the linebackers and defensive linemen Monday morning.
