The Allen County Commissioners have proclaimed this “Severe Weather Preparedness Week” and are encouraging residents to learn what to do if a thunderstorm, tornado or flooding incident threatens their homes.
The County Office of Homeland Security recommends that residents formulate an emergency action plan that includes staying alert during severe weather conditions; having a designated safe area in their home and business; and mintaining a reliable method of obtaining official news and information by radio, television or NOAA All Hazards Radio.
Each day during the week, topics to help everyone be prepared when severe weather occurs will be shared on the Allen County INfo Facebook and Twitter social media sites and the county's Nixle public safety network.
And on Wednesday county government offices will participate in a statewide tornado drill.
