Fort Wayne Police investigators believes a man was shot after trying to get away from someone who attacked him in his attached garage Tuesday morning and sprayed something into his face.

Detectives continue to investigate the shooting of the victim, whom they identified as David J. Kuker, 45, at around 8 a.m. Tuesday in the 9400 White Shell Drive, said Fort Wayne Police Department spokeswoman Officer Raquel Foster.

Police believe Kuker, who was in serious condition, was physically attacked by someone and was sprayed in the face with an unknown substance before being shot while he was trying to get away, Foster said in a news release.

A suspect description is not available, and police have no motive for the attack, Foster said.

Faegre Baker Daniels issued a statement earlier Tuesday saying that Kuker joined the firm in 1995 and leads the Fort Wayne office. His practice focuses on corporate law and represents real estate developers and managers in commercial real estate transactions.
