Sessions offered for teens and parents on HPV disease

Wednesday, May 9, 2012 - 12:01 am

The Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne Department of Nursing and the Lafayette Street Family Health Clinic are teaming up to sponsor two information sessions on the human papilloma virus (HPV).

Teens and parents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the sexually transmitted disease. Sessions are being held not only inform the public about the HPV virus, but also to create discussion between parents and teens.

The first of two free sessions will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bauer Hall at Zion Lutheran Church, 2313 S. Hanna St. The second session will be held on 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 22 in Neff Hall, Room 101, at the IPFW campus, 2101 Coliseum Blvd. E.

Both middle school and high school students, male and female, are encouraged to attend. Sessions will offer free family photos and free pizza to people attending.

These informational sessions are being held through a grant from the Indiana University Center of Excellence in Women's Health. IPFW's Department of Nursing and the Department of Nursing at Ivy Tech Community College Northeast will collaborate to offer the events.
