INDIANAPOLIS — Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Gregg is ready to announce his running mate.
The former Indiana house speaker is scheduled to unveil his pick at the Statehouse on Tuesday afternoon. A senior-level Gregg adviser told The Associated Press of the plans on condition of anonymity because the source wasn't authorized to discuss the pick before the public announcement.
Gregg's announcement will follow one day after Republican candidate Mike Pence added state Rep. Sue Ellspermann to his ticket. Pence said Monday he tapped the freshman lawmaker for her experience as a business consultant and economic development official. Gregg derided Pence's pick for her support for defunding Planned Parenthood.
Gregg, Pence and Libertarian Rupert Boneham are running in the November general election. Gov. Mitch Daniels is barred from seeking a third term.
