*IPFW's iPad cohort project has received a gift of $25,000 from Follett's, the operators of IPFW's on-campus book store.
*IPFW announced the following appointments: Ann M. Obergfell, J.D., RT(R), from interim dean to dean of the College of Health and Human Services; John O'Connell, interim dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA); James Burg, interim dean of the College of Education and Public Policy (CEPP); and Steven T. Sarratore, from associate vice chancellor for academic affairs to interim vice chancellor for academic affairs, effective July 1.
*Huntington University will host an open house for its Fort Wayne-based graduate and adult-degree programs 2-7 p.m. Thursday at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center, North Cole Auditorium, 3201 Stellhorn Road.
*Huntington University's Adult Degree Programs honored the following students at commencement on May 12 for their achievements during the year.
Melissa Lundmark of Wabash, who graduated with an Associate of Science in Organizational Management, was named the valedictorian for the associate degree program.
Julie Baker of Wabash, who graduated with an Associate of Science in Organizational Management, was named the salutatorian for the associate degree program.
Carrie Nelson of Wabash, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, was named the salutatorian for the bachelor's degree program.
*Jessica Howard of Fort Wayne spoke at Baccalaureate for Olivet College, Olivet, Mich.
*Zachary Meyer of Fort Wayne has been selected to receive the Abel Scholarship by the Indiana University College of Arts and Sciences.
*A team of IPFW engineering students took top honors at the second annual Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division Undergraduate Design Competition.
*IPFW Civil Engineering students achieved first place in surveying, second place in geotechnical, third place in the technical paper category of the cement canoe competition and third place overall at the recent 2012 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Great Lakes Conference held at Bradley University, Peoria, Ill.
*Alexander Zwierko of Fort Wayne was among 30 undergraduate students inducted into the inaugural chapter of Rho Chi, the academic honor society in pharmacy, at the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy (UCSOP).
High school
*Carroll High School and Heritage Jr.-Sr. High School marching band students traveled during Spring Break to Walt Disney World Resort to perform as part of Disney Performing Arts.
