HEBRON — Authorities in northwestern Indiana's Porter County say animal cruelty charges are pending against the owners of six horses found malnourished at a property near the town of Hebron.
The Times reports Porter County Animal Control officers were issued a warrant this week to remove horses. It says eight horses at the site appeared underweight, with minor cuts and injuries. An animal control officer found no grass in their pasture and no water inside their water trough.
Porter County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Larry LaFlower says the owners were allowed to keep two of the horses.
The Times reports horses also were rescued at the property two years ago.
