A man reported being robbed of $320 Wednesday.
According to a Fort Wayne Police report police responded to an armed robbery near Belmont Drive and Southern Court around 9:45 p.m. When the first officer arrived on the scene he was told by a man he had gotten a check cashed at a check cashing store at Lafayette and Rudisill around 6:30 p.m. He had gone home to Lake Ave and then took a bus to the area of Winter St and Petit Ave to his step-father’s house. He told the police his aunt lived in the trailer park near Belmont Dr and Southern Ct. and he had gone to the area to visit her because she was sick.
While looking for his Aunt’s house the man told police his cousin had popped out from between two trailers and asked to borrow a couple of bucks. When the man pulled his money out to give the cousin a couple of bucks, the man saw all the money and told him he should give all of it to him or he would be shot. He said the man was wearing khaki pants, a khaki fishing hat, and a white shirt with there buttons. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The man who said he was robbed never saw a gun.
Two escape fire
Two people escaped a fire unharmed Thursday morning.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 10:19 a.m. at 6126 Chaddsford Drive. Crews found fire on the outside of the home that was extending into the attic, according to an FWFD report. Firefighters had the blaze under control in 14 minutes. Damage was minor and was contained to the outside of the one-story home and a small amount in the attic. Two adults got out of the home safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
