Workers fill in the area around new playground equipment built entirely by parents and community volunteers Thursday at Whitney Young Early Childhood Center. The school has worked for the past two years to raise $80,000 for a "face lift" for the outdoor areas, which includes two new sets of playground equipment, school gardens and an outdoor stage for theater performances, said Principal Sherry Britt.
