Man tased, arrested after CVS robbery try

Sunday, June 3, 2012 - 4:06 pm

A Fort Wayne Police officer tased a man after responding to an attempted robbery of the CVS pharmacy Sunday, according to a spokesman.

Aaron A Mcatee 36, is charged with robbery, resisting law enforcement, felony intimidation, and possession of cocaine in connection with the case, according to FWPD spokesman John Chambers.

An officer called at 10:07 a.m. to CVS, at 5802 S. Anthony Blvd., found a woman running out of the store. The woman told the officer that the store was being robbed, according to Chambers. Chambers gave the following account: As the officer entered the store, he saw a man running from the back near the pharmacy toward the front. The officer ordered the man to stop running and to lay down on the floor. The man ignored the officer's order and charged toward the officer. The officer and the man were involved in a physical altercation and the officer tased him. The man was then taken into custody.

Investigators were told the man had allegedly gone into the store and approached the pharmacist with a note demanding prescription drugs, according to Chambers. The man allegedly said he had a weapon but one was not displayed. The pharmacist gave the drugs to the man, who ran toward the front of the store, Chamber said.

The case remains under investigation by the FWPD and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
