PERU — A missing master key could force Miami County officials to re-key the high-security lock system at the county courthouse.
County officials say there are two master keys to the courthouse. They began looking for them after a woman was caught on video rummaging through the prosecutor's office before the building opened in May.
The Kokomo Tribune reports one key has been found, but the second is missing after a two-week search.
Commissioners say they are doing an inventory of all keys issued to employees and hope the missing master key turns up. If it doesn't, every door in the courthouse would need to be re-keyed to ensure building safety.
They say they don't know how much that project would cost.
