Identity released of man killed at liquor store

Saturday, June 9, 2012 - 5:17 pm

The Allen County Coroner's Office on Saturday released the identity of a man who was shot Friday evening at a liquor store.

According to a news release, Christopher M. Mhoon, 27, was the person who was pronounced dead around 9:19 p.m. at the Cap n' Cork located at 5727 S. Anthony Blvd.

The coroner's office ruled the cause of death to be by gunshot wound -- the coroner's office does not specify how many times a person was shot -- and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. That designation raises Allen County's total homicides this year to 18.

According to information released earlier by the Fort Wayne Police Department, preliminary investigation indicates that Mhoon and another man got into an argument at the business. That dispute reportedly turned physical before shots were fired.

Officers dispatched to the Cap n' Cork found Mhoon in the entryway of the store. The second man then had fled the scene before officers arrived, police were told.

The Allen County Prosecutor's Office is also investigating the case.
