Police: Indiana woman poured boiling water on boyfriend

SOUTH BEND — Northern Indiana police say a South Bend man suffered severe burns when his girlfriend allegedly poured boiling water on him as he slept.

WNDU-TV reports that police say 41-year-old Tearsa Broadnax dumped a boiling hot pan of water on 52-year-old Rickey Clark while Clark early Saturday morning while he was sleeping.

Officers were called to the couple's South Bend apartment, where they found Clark with severe burn wounds to his arm.

As of Sunday evening, Clark remained in critical condition at a Fort Wayne burn unit.

Broadnax is being held at the St. Joseph County Jail on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery.
