LAPEL — Police divers searched a pond as investigators tried to find a central Indiana man in connection with the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend's daughter.

The search for 53-year-old Roy Parmley began after police say he tied up his 53-year-old ex-girlfriend and 31-year-old Amanda Wiles early Saturday at their home near the Madison County town of Lapel. Police say Parmley fatally shot Wiles before threatening to kill himself and running away.

Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson tells The Herald Bulletin that Wiles' mother recently broke off her relationship with Parmley.

Divers didn't find anything in their search Sunday of a pond near Parmley's home.

Richardson tells WRTV that police want to give closure to Wiles' family by finding Parmley.
