Partnership receives funds
Baden, Gage & Schroeder LLC has awarded Allen County Education Partnership $250 and the Waterfield Foundation awarded the partnership $2,500, all to support the agency's operational needs.
Fifth Third Bank has awarded Allen County Education Partnership $500 to support the agency's Project READS program.
Food drive nets 743,481 pounds of food
The Fort Wayne area collected 743,481 pounds of food May 12 as part of the national Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. All food collected locally is distributed to 83 food banks and pantries in Northeast Indiana, nearly 30 of which are served by the Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County food bank system.
Kids Against Hunger needs 50 volunteers
Kids Against Hunger-Fort Wayne will host a public packing event 9-11 a.m. June 30 at Grace Gathering, 3157 Minnich Road, New Haven.
The organization, which is dedicated to eradicating hunger, needs 50 volunteers to pack 10,000 meals. Sign up at www.kah-fortwayne.org.

Open enrollment for Head Start
Community Action of Northeast Indiana's Head Start and Early Head Start have openings available for fall 2012 for its free, comprehensive development program. It meets educational, health, nutritional and social service needs of low-income preschool children, ages 3 to 5, and their families in Allen, Noble and Whitley counties.
The program has 350 slots available to new children. To qualify, families must be at or below 100 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, with an exception that 10 percent may be enrolled who are considered over-income. Usually these slots are held by children with a diagnosed special need.
