Seal-maker Trelleborg Sealing Solutions wanted to get ideas popping. So it put an artistic touch on a meeting space it calls the “Thinkubator.”
Trelleborg, 2531 Bremer Road, has created a colorful spot in its lobby from unused space to inspire creativity and ideas among employees. Large red umbrellas hang from the ceiling, velvet pillows line leather sofas and a room divider of circles was built using turquoise Turcon, a Trelleborg material. Walk across the purple carpet and sit in a zebra-print armchair to look at lamps with bowling- ball bases, and cartoon framed posters that outline the idea-generating process. Three flat-panel TVs will connect to the Internet and in-house work, said Kerrin Nusbaum, aerospace segment coordinator, so employees don't have to use separate laptops or go back to their desks for something.
Tim Callison, president of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Marketing Americas, said in the news release, “We wanted to create a relaxed, fun environment to nurture creative ideas.”
The Thinkubator incorporates sculptures by Cary Shafer of Fort Wayne, who has worked on the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Artists Lisa Vetter and Paul Siefert, of the Art Farm in Spencerville, designed a table and a lamp using found objects. Charley Shirmeyer, owner of Northside Galleries, 335 E. State Blvd., framed some of the artwork.
