Couple report being robbed in hotel room
Three men are charged in connection with a robbery at a Fort Wayne hotel.
Jamarcus A Harris, 24, of the 6200 block of Downington Drive; Dominic R. Wallace, 22, of the 3300 block of Portage Boulevard; and Tyrell E. Logan of the 1800 block of Kinsmoor Avenue are each being held on a charge of robbery, a Class B felony.
According to court documents, the charges stem from a robbery that reportedly occurred at around 1:58 a.m. June 15 at the Econo Lodge. The men are alleged to have broken into the room of a man and woman who reported then being tied up and robbed, according to the court records. The man said he was forced into the bathroom, had his hands tied behind his back and a gun pointed to his head. His wallet along with his Wells Fargo credit card and $52 were taken. The woman was reportedly forced onto the floor between the two beds and had her hands tied behind her back. Her MasterCard and Indiana ID card were reported taken.
According to the court documents, the three men then fled in a red S-10 pickup with Harris allegedly driving. They were soon after stopped by Fort Wayne Police and stolen items were allegedly found in Harris' pockets while a gun was found inside a coat on the floor of the truck.
Police ran the three men past a male witness at the hotel who allegedly connected the three suspects to the reported crime, according to the court documents. The three men are being held in Allen County Jail.
Man airlifted to hospital after one-car crash into tree
A Garrett man was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital after the car he was driving drove off the road on Indiana 327 in DeKalb County late Monday night.
Ricky Cline, 31, was driving northbound on Indiana 327 just south of the intersection with County Road 2 at around 11:47 p.m. when he failed to negotiate the left hand curve and drove off the north side of the road, according to a news release. His 2001 BMW finally came to a stop after hitting a tree. Cline is believed to have leg fractures and a possible chest injury.
Assisting on the accident scene were Ashley Fire and Rescue, DeKalb EMS, and Samaritan helicopter.
