Man reportedly shot early Monday

A man was driven by his girlfriend to the Parkview Hospital emergency room early Monday morning after he was reportedly shot near the intersection of Avondale Drive and East Rudisill Boulevard.

According to a report from the Fort Wayne Police Department, the man was transported to Parkview North Trauma Center, from Parkview's Randallia Drive. The man's girlfriend reportedly told police he had been at a residence near the intersection of Avondale and Rudisill when the shooting occurred.

The man's car, an orange Crown Victoria, had numerous bullet holes in it. The car was impounded as part of the crime scene. Units also responded to the area of the shooting where they reportedly found numerous 9mm shell casings in the street and on the sidewalk.

Person escapes unharmed from apartment blaze

One person escaped unhurt from a Fort Wayne apartment fire Tuesday night.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded at about 10:12 p.m. to a fire in the 900 block of Third Street. Firefighters found flames coming from the rear deck area of the second-floor apartment.

A woman escaped from the house before firefighters arrived, according to a news release. A cat also was rescued. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters got the blaze under control in about 10 minutes, according to the release. The apartment had moderate fire, smoke and water damage. The fire remained under investigation Wednesday morning.
