Indiana Tech lands one of top jumpers in state

Barlow inks with Warrior track program

Thursday, June 21, 2012 - 3:46 am

Indiana Tech has developed a reputation as one of the top men's track and field programs at the NAIA level throughout the country. That reputation paid dividends on Wednesday, as the Warriors signed one of the top long jumpers in Indiana.

Carmel High School graduate Blake Barlow signed a national letter of intent to compete for Indiana Tech.

"We are very excited about Blake's potential," Warrior coach Doug Edgar said in a release." "Being at Carmel, the jumps can kind of get lost in its program and he should benefit from a jumps coach."

Barlow leaped to a career-best 22-feet, 7 inches and finished fifth at an Indiana Indoor State Meet this season. He was runner-up at the MIC Championship Meet as well.

"He is going to get a lot of great work this summer with a coach," Edgar said. "We are excited to see his progressing next year. I think he will be over 23-feet consistently all year."
