Fort Wayne Latinos gathered Thursday at the Allen County Public Library to celebrate a dream. Ivy Tech graduate Mary J. Montes sends a thank you message to President Obama for easing enforcement of immigration laws. Obama recently gave prosecutors discretion to focus deportations on illegal immigrants who have committed crimes or pose some other threat. It bypasses Congress and partially achieves the goals of the "DREAM Act," congressional legislation that would establish a path toward citizenship for young people who came to the United States illegally but who attend college or join the military. Originally from Peru, Montes was recently accepted to Indiana Tech's law program.
