Couple arrested for neglect of a dependent
Two people, Nathan A. Newsom, 23, and Lindsay M. Galbreath, 21, have been arrested and charged with neglect of a dependent.
According to court documents, the charges stem from an incident that allegedly took place June 19. Officers who were to serve a felony warrant on Newsom allegedly observed through the window of the couple's hotel room a green plant-like material, a rolled-up dollar bill with powdery residue on it, and a clear plastic baggie with more white powdery residue on it.
Galbreath, who also was charged with possession of a controlled substance, allegedly advised officers Newsom had been snorting morphine pills, more of which were allegedly found in Galbreath's pocket.
A 3-year-old boy was roaming the room, and the duo told the officers that they were the parents. The officers noted that the child could easily reach the items on the table and the parents' alleged activity was harmful to the health and safety of the boy.
Man allegedly robs 78-year-old woman in Southgate parking lot
Antonio L. Freeling, 30, has been arrested and charged with allegedly stealing a 78-year-old woman's purse in the Kroger parking lot at Southgate Plaza on June 6.
According to a probable-cause affidavit, the woman was loading her car with groceries when she was allegedly approached by a man who told her he would shoot her if she didn't give him her purse.
The man was allegedly wearing a blue windbreaker and had a large bulge in one pocket, which she assumed was a gun. The woman gave the man $75.
The woman was able to identify Freeling as one of two possible suspects after looking at surveillance photos of the incident; he was brought in for questioning and arrested.
Woman charged with battery, allegedly attacked another with high-heeled shoe
A woman was taken to the hospital after being struck in the forehead with a high-heeled shoe by another woman, causing the woman to seize at Piere's Entertainment Center.
According to an probable-cause affidavit, Ronesha M. Taylor, 21, allegedly was at Piere's around 3:12 a.m. on Saturday. As Taylor was leaving Club V, she allegedly removed her high-heeled shoe and struck another woman in the forehead from behind, causing a laceration to the woman's forehead.
The woman then fell to the ground and began to experience a seizure, according to the affidavit. Taylor was arrested and charged with battery resulting in a serious injury, a Class D felony.
