Running her second race in just four nights Alissa McKaig narrowly missed out on advancing to the U.S. Olympic Trials 5K finals.
McKaig ran the 5,000 preliminaries Monday in 16 minutes, 3 seconds. On Friday she finished 11th in the 10,000-meter run in 32:31.
McKaig, a former Concordia Lutheran IHSAA state champion and Indiana Tech NAIA national champion, ran in the second heat of the 5,000 and needed to finish in 15:54 to advance to Thursday's finals.
