Child-care centers receive grants
Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County awarded grants, which range between $2,000 and $3,725 each, to enhance early childhood development at these child-care centers: Back-to-Basics Child Care & Leadership Academy, Beacon Heights Preschool, Building Blocks Daycare Ministry, Community Baptist Child Care Ministries, Crescent Avenue Weekday School, EMBC Child Care Ministry, Emmanuel Child Care Ministry, Emmanuel Lutheran Early Childhood Ministry, First Presbyterian Day Care Ministry, First Redeemed By the Blood Ministries, Greater Spirit of Love Childcare Ministy, Heritage of the Lord Daycare Ministry, Holy Cross Preschool, Kingdom's Kidz Childcare Ministries, Little Life Changers Academy, Martini Kids Club Ministry, Matthew's House Child Care Ministry, Mt. Salvation Army needs school supplies
The Salvation Army needs school supplies for its Tools for School program, which will provide 1,500 students in kindergarten-Grade 12 with a full backpack of school supplies.
Needs include backpacks, notebooks (wide-rule and college-rule), filler paper (wide-rule and college-rule), Kleenex, scissors, binders, pencil boxes, rulers, folders (pocket and three-prong), highlighters, washable markers (thin and fat), crayons (24-count boxes), pencils and pens, glue bottles and sticks, colored pencils, dry erase markers (black, green, red, blue and purple), composition books and monetary donations for specific needs.
Collection sites include Office Depot, 705 Northcrest Shopping Center and 10290 Maysville Road; St. Anne Home, 1900 Randallia Drive; all Walgreen's and Walmart locations, and WANE-TV, 2915 W. State Blvd.
