Are you looking for cheap vacation ideas?
Two Indiana state park inns, Canyon Inn at McCormick's Creek State Park and Spring Mill Inn at Spring Mill State Park, are offering deals: If you stay two nights, the second night is half off. Of course there are some restrictions.
The deal runs through Aug. 30, is available Sunday-Thursdays only, is for new reservations only and can't be combined with any other offer. Call 1-877-LODGES1 (1-877-563-4371).
Farmers markets
Here's some information on a couple of farmers markets in this area:
•The Barr Street Market will be open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays starting July 7 at the corner of Barr and Wayne streets.
•The New Haven Farm Market will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday evenings in Schnelker Park, 956 Park Ave., New Haven.
Daylily sale
One of the most rugged perennials, even in this dreadful drought, daylilies will be featured in a juried show 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 14 at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St. The show is presented by the Fort Wayne Daylily Society.
You can buy plants that day; experts can help you select the best variety for wherever you want to plant them.
Solar lights
We've certainly had an abundance of sunlight this summer. Take advantage of all that solar energy by buying a set of three solar uplights, now 50 percent off at $17.25 at Neuhouser Garden and Gifts, 4605 W. Jefferson Blvd., and Neuhouser Nursery and Landscaping, 8046 Stellhorn Road.
They're a great way to accent a statue or focal point in your garden.
