Red Cross opening shelter at First Assembly of God

Friday, June 29, 2012 - 8:06 pm

A place to stay is being offered for those who have few options if their lodging is unsuitable after this afternoon's powerful storm.

According to a news release, the Red Cross of Northeast Indiana is opening a shelter at 9 p.m. at the First Assembly of God, 1400 W. Washington Center Road. The news release said those in need should use Door #5 to enter and register.

The release said those who come should bring a pillow, sleeping bag, personal hygiene items and any personal medications. The Red Cross will also have volunteers on hand to assist those displaced by the storm.

As of 6 p.m., around 80,000 customers of Indiana Michigan Power had either experienced power outages or were without power.
