Food bank closed for holiday
Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana will be closed through Saturday for the Independence Day holiday and staff vacations. This includes all Farm Wagon distributions. The food bank will resume regular operations at 7:30 p.m. July 9.
Allegiant adds flight
Allegiant now offers a low-cost, nonstop flight between Fort Wayne and the Southwest Florida coast, via Punta Gorda Airport. Fares as low as $92.99 one way between the two cities will be offered. Flights will operate twice weekly between Fort Wayne International Airport and Punta Gorda Airport.
Seniors’ stories told
American Senior Communities has released a collection of stories about many of the residents served at its retirement communities around the state.
Stories included in “Special Stories of Seniors” include those on legendary horror show host Sammy Terry; former state Sen. Glenn L. Howard; a bowling legend; a real-life Rosie the Riveter, a Hollywood actress and one of the first women in the regular U.S. Navy, a news release said.
“Special Stories of Seniors” is being released in paperback and will be available free to residents' families, several organizations and historical societies statewide, the news release said. One chapter of the book will be published each week on the ASC website, www.ASCSeniorCare.com.

Know medical patient rights
The Joint Commission, which evaluates and accredits health care organizations and programs, has released the seventh episode in its 60-second, animated “Speak Up” video series, “Speak Up: Know Your Rights.”
The new video features characters depicting rights every patient should expect from their caregivers, a news release said. The series airs on The Joint Commission's channel at www.youtube.com; type Joint Commission in the search window.
