Parkview announced Thursday that the community is invited to participate in a safe sleep exchange this weekend in an effort to keep infants safe.
Anyone who brings a bumper pad, blanket, positioner or wedge will receive a free infant sleep sack. Safe sleeping practices for infants can help reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Tips to promote safe sleep for infants:
*Always lay your baby on his/her back for every sleep time
*Always lay your baby on a firm sleeping surface that is approved for infants
*Never share a bed with your baby. Sharing a bed can potentially lead to smothering,.
*Never use soft or loose bedding in your baby's crib or bassinet
*Never place soft objects such as stuffed animals, pillows and blankets in your baby's crib or bassinet
*Never use positioners, wedges or bumpers in your baby's crib or bassinet
The events will happen in two locations: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Renaissance Pointe YMCA, 2323 Bowser Ave., and noon-5 p.m. Sunday at Parkview YMCA, 10001 Dawsons Creek Blvd.
