Kosciusko man allegedly stabbed after wearing out welcome

Friday, July 6, 2012 - 5:13 pm

A Kosciusko County man was jailed early Friday morning for allegedly stabbing a man multiple times after he grew tired of the alleged victim's company.

Kosciusko County sheriff's deputies responded to a location southeast of North Webster, just before 1 a.m., after witnesses called 911 saying a bleeding man had come to their house seeking shelter, according to a news release.

Police later found Travis Ray Osbun, 33, outside his home in the 300 block of East Huntington Street in North Webster. He had apparently been stabbed at least four times in the abdomen and chest, police said.

Billy Joe Pearson, 19, of Leesburg, was arrested at his home and charged with aggravated battery, a felony, in the alleged stabbing, police said. Pearson was being held without bond.

Police said Osbun had apparently gotten in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend and gone to Pearson's house to "cool off." Pearson allegedly got tired of Osbun and told him to leave, the news release said.

When Osbun refused to leave, Pearson allegedly began stabbing him, police said.

Osbun was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital.
