Auburn police said Friday they have arrested two people believed to be linked with a rash of thefts over the past week.
Since Sunday, police in Auburn have responded to a total of 25 thefts, mostly involving items stolen from inside vehicles, Chief Martin McCoy said in a written statement. Police responded to a car theft, three bicycle thefts and three burglaries, the statement said.
Andrew O. Meyers, 22, who is listed as homeless, and Makayla K. DePriest, 21, of Garrett, face charges of receiving stolen auto parts, receiving stolen property and illegal possession of prescription drugs, the statement said.
Of the 18 thefts from vehicles, 17 were from unlocked vehicles, the statement said. McCoy urged people to park their cars in lighted areas, lock them while parked and remove valuables from parked vehicles.
