•Northeast Indiana Small Business Development Center business advisor Scot Goskowicz was recently presented the Indiana SBDC network's 2012 Indiana State Star Award. He has been with the NEISBDC since 2007 and helps to start and grow businesses in five counties: Allen, Huntington, Wabash, Wells and Whitley.
•Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast alumnus Jon-Paul Capito has been named champion of the 2012 New Venture Competition. He will receive $20,000 toward his business, DeRossi. He also won a voucher for a Disney Institute event at Ivy Tech and a one-year membership to the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce.
•Baden Tax Management has hired Mike Brady as business development coordinator. He will focus on Indiana commercial and industrial real estate.
•State Rep. Dan Leonard (R-Huntington) has been appointed to serve as a member of the Native American Indian Affairs Commission and the Unemployment Insurance Oversight Committee. He will be tasked with studying problems common to Native American Indian residents of Indiana in the areas of employment, education, civil rights, health and house, and the feasibility of and value of indexing unemployment benefits and the taxable wage base.

•Indiana Dental Association honored dentist Dr. Thomas Blake for service as president of the Isaac Knapp Dental Society at the 154th annual session held June 8 at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis.
•Northeast Indiana Chapter of the American Red Cross honored Thomas M. Fink at its annual meeting with the 2012 Exceptional Volunteer of the Year award. He is a board member and member of the executive committee for the chapter. He concentrates his practice in the area of estate planning with Barrett & McNagny. He is a board certified Indiana trust and estate lawyer.
•Indiana State Excise Police have recognized senior officer Christopher Drake as statewide Educator of the Year. He is assigned to the Columbia City district and teaches at the Fort Wayne Police Department Academy. He was recognized for undertaking a range of responsibilities above and beyond the normal duties of an excise officer; and District No. 2 Officer of the Year, Master Officer John
Barchak.

In addition, Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home has added David Tribble, MD, ABHPM, FAAFP, to its staff. He is the agency's second full-time physician. He earned his medical degree from Temple University, Philadelphia, and completed his residency in family medicine at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Charleston, S.C.. He is a United States Air Force veteran. He will care for the agency's hospice and palliative patients located in their home, in a nursing facility or in Hospice Home, the agency's 14-bed in-patient unit, and will conduct palliative consultations during the twice-weekly palliative care clinic in the Cancer Resource Center at Lutheran Hospital and will conduct in-patient palliative consultations at Lutheran Hospital.
