Taxpayers have a new way to view the sales used to determine the assessed value of their properties.
The Comparable Online Multiple Property Search, or COMPS, can display sales on a neighborhood by neighborhood basis so taxpayers know exactly how their annual assessment adjustment was determined. COMPS can also be used to search for sales not used in the annual “ratio” study, such as foreclosures, short sales and sheriff's sales.
COMPS was created by the Allen County Assessor's office, the county's GIS Department and Atos Origins. It will debut this week on the Assessor's homepage on the county's website, www.allencounty.us.
