Size matters on the basketball court and IPFW women's coach Chris Paul addressed that issue with his 2012-13 recruiting class.
Paul added a couple of big players on Wednesday to go along with two talents that signed with the Mastodons last November.
Danielle Wilmoth and Alexis Richards will join Hannah Lee (6-foot-2) and Courtney Ogle (6-foot-1) to comprise the latest group of IPFW recruits.
In the case of Wilmoth and Richards, Paul is excited about what each will bring to the defensive end of the floor.
“Danielle's size and strength inside will allow us to put more pressure on the ball on the perimeter,” Paul said.
The 6-foot-4 Wilmoth lettered four seasons at Keystone High School in Ohio and helped her team to a 22-2 record this past season.
She was named second team all-conference and honorable mention All-Lorain County and was just as solid in the classroom. Wilmoth was a Lorain County All-Star in 2012 and a Patriot Athletic Conference scholar athlete.
Richards is a “very physical” 6-foot player that will be able to guard multiple positions according to Paul.
“Alexis is a physical rebounder that is very vocal,” Paul said. “She is able to guard bigger players because of her strength and can also go out and guard quicker players against teams that go small against us.”
The Miami native started in every single varsity basketball game during her four-year career at Miami Palmetto Senior High School.
She led the team in scoring, rebounding, and blocks during her final three seasons as a Panther, each of which she served as team captain.
Richards closed her career with over 1,000 points and 600 rebounds and was a three-time All-Dade County selection as well as a three-time team MVP.

Like Wilmoth, Richards excelled in the classroom as well, earning accolades as a scholar athlete.
