Shooting victim in critical condition

A man is in critical condition after being shot while walking down a street.

Fort Wayne Police were called in regards to a shooting at 8:29 p.m. Saturday at Standish and Fairfax. Officers found the victim suffering from one or more more gunshots wounds on Standish just North of Fairfax. Officers rendered aid until paramedics arrived and took the man to a local hospital in critical condition.

Potential witnesses were taken to the police Operation Center to be interviewed. According to preliminary statements the victim was walking down the street when a vehicle stopped and got out and opened fire on the victim, then got back into the vehicle and left the area, possibly northbound on Standish. The vehicle was described as a silver passenger car.

This incident remains under investigation by FWPD, Allen County Prosecutor's Office, and the county coroner's office.
