Sessions to provide skill development, exposure to IPFW campus

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 - 12:01 am

IPFW women’s basketball will be hosting its 2012 Elite Basketball Camp on August 11 and 12.

The overnight camp is open to girls in grades 7 to 12, and will be conducted in the Athletic Center Fieldhouse.

“The players will get exposure to our new facilities and renovations that we have on campus,” IPFW women’s coach Chris Paul said. “There are people that still don’t know what we have here.”

Registration will be on Aug. 11 from 8 to 9 a.m. with the session running from 9 a.m. on the 11th until 3 p.m. the next day.

“Our coaches will be giving the players hands-on instruction and attention,” Paul explained. “There will be lots of one-on-one time and skill instruction. Instead of getting lost at a camp with a few hundred campers, they can come here and get Division I teaching, coaching and expertise.”

The IPFW coaches and players will serve as the instructors and Paul said that interaction with experienced college coaches and athletes can be extremely beneficial in providing insight on what it takes to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics.

The cost is $180 for a double room, or $210 for a single room, with lunch and dinner on the 11th, and breakfast and lunch on the 12th provided.
