This week's rain didn't offset drought conditions enough to loosen Allen County's emergency burn ban.
The ban, which includes campfires, bonfires and fireworks, would remain in place indefinitely, county spokesman Mike Green said in a statement. The County Commissioners received a number of calls this week asking about whether the ban would be lifted, Green said.
Fort Wayne got roughly 2 inches of rain over the last three days, according to National Weather Service figures. County homeland security and fire officials told the commissioners the rain did not offset dry conditions, Green said in the statement.
The commissioners would continue tracking the conditions and consulting with public safety officials to determine when the ban can be lifted, the statement said. The ban has been in place since June.
