One man is dead and two others are wounded - one critically - as a result of two separate shooting incidents early this morning.
According to information released by the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers responded around 4:12 a.m. to an area near the 3900 block of Wayne Trace, in order to investigate a report of shots fired.
Officers searched the area upon arrival and found a man who has sustained apparent gunshot wounds, according to the police department. Paramedics were dispatched and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The man's identity has not been released. No arrests have been made and no descriptions of possible suspects have been released.
Two wounded shortly after police disperse crowd
An earlier double shooting took place around 2:43 a.m. in the area of 2100 Eden Street.
According to the police department, officers had been to the area previously to investigate reports of unwanted individuals congregating in an apartment building within the Eden Green apartment complex. Officers dispersed the crowd and departed, but shortly received notification of a shooting that took place in the same area.
Upon returning, officers found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds; both were transported to a local hospital by paramedics. One of the men was in critical condition, while the other was listed in stable condition. Neither man's identity was released.
Intitial investigation indicates that the men were shot by another person. No arrests have been made in the case.
The shootings remain under investigation by the police department, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office, and the Allen County Coroner's Office.
