NEW ORLEANS — Actor Russell Brand has been charged with a misdemeanor linked to a March incident in New Orleans.
The Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office filed a bill of information Wednesday against Brand in municipal court.
Christopher Bowman, a spokesman for the office, says Brand was charged with one count of misdemeanor criminal damage to property. An arraignment has not been scheduled.
City officials have not released details about the alleged incident. Celebrity website TMZ has said the charge stems from a confrontation with a photographer who was trying to take Brand's photo from a car while he was in New Orleans to film an untitled movie.
Brand's New Orleans lawyer, Robert Glass, could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
