Fair announces fashion winners
The Allen County 4-H Fair announced these winners of the adult fashion show: Angie Brown, Noah Brown, Ethan Brown and Maddie Brown, nonprofessional family outfits; Donna Koch, dresses; and Sally Still, separates.
These winners have the opportunity to participate in the adult fashion show, “Showcase of Fashions,” Aug. 12 at the Indiana State Fair.
Georgetown Friday: Parkview concert series takes place 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at Georgetown Square, in front of the Georgetown branch library.
American Style Ballroom Dancers, Mustang Club and Christian Motorcycle Club, and Kid's Day also will be part of the festivities.Admission is free. Entertainment is provided by Junk Yard Band and Fort Wayne Ballet.
Subway and Bandido's will sell refreshments. “Puss in Boots” will be shown at 8:45 p.m.
American Senior Communities has released “Special Stories of Seniors,” a collection of stories about residents served at American Senior Communities statewide.
“Special Stories of Seniors” includes stories about legends, such as horror show host Sammy Terry, former State Sen. Glenn L. Howard and Nancy Pillon.

An Elvis impersonator will perform Aug. 16 on the roof of Heritage Park, 2001 Hobson Road, to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. The concert will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue throughout the day.
Tayler Cummings of Fort Wayne was crowned Miss Allen County 2012 in the Miss Allen County Queen Scholarship Pageant.
Lauren Shank was first runner-up, Morgen Figel was second runner-up, Victoria Roser was third runner-up and Miss Congeniality, Riley Lorenzini was fourth runner-up, and Elise Maguire was Miss Photogenic.
Cummings will receive a $1,000 scholarship and a prize package worth more than $1,600.
Her court continues to reign over the fair this week, and she will represent Allen County at the Indiana State Fair Queen pageant Aug. 17-19 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Edy’s celebrates 25 years in Fort Wayne
Edy's Grand Ice Cream is celebrating its 25th anniversary locally in a big way.
The plant has presented $10,000 to Riley Hospital after holding fundraisers to benefit the hospital. Edy's also will sponsor postgame fireworks at TinCaps games Aug. 4, Aug. 10 and Aug. 30.
The company will host 500 ice cream socials throughout Indiana this summer.
